Procurement and architecture guide
Choosing a Paxton installer and the right Paxton system
Net2, Paxton10, Solo, Entry and PaxLock solve different operating problems. Select the architecture first, then quote the doors, network, software, credentials, installation and lifecycle support.

Which Paxton architecture fits?
| System | Best planning fit | Key dependency |
|---|---|---|
| Net2 | Established Windows-based, on-premise networked access control with single-door controllers and broad installed base. | Supported Windows/Net2 release, database, controllers, network/RS-485 and edition features. |
| Paxton10 | Web-based unified access and video management with remote and multi-site capabilities. | Paxton10 server, compatible controllers/readers/cameras, remote-service design and backup. |
| Solo | Phone-based, cloud-hosted access for smaller, remote or infrastructure-light applications. | Exact regional availability, subscription/credits, DoorTag/controller, mobile connectivity and user workflow. |
| Entry | PoE video intercom and visitor release, standalone or integrated with supported Paxton systems. | Panels, monitors/app, Entry control unit, network, PoE, call routing and lock interface. |
| PaxLock Pro | Battery-powered wireless electronic handle/lockset for selected interior openings. | Door prep, handing, mortise/latch hardware, system mode, wireless coverage, batteries and fire rating. |
What a qualified installer should deliver
Survey and design
Opening schedule, hardware compatibility, egress/life safety, controller topology, network, power, credentials, software and acceptance plan.
Installation and programming
Door hardware interfaces, cable, enclosures, power, readers, controllers, server/software, accounts, schedules and integrations.
Commissioning
Normal and exception tests, event evidence, backups, labeling, documentation, administrator training and secure handoff.
Maintenance and repair
Reader, controller, lock, power, network, server, database, app and credential troubleshooting with documented changes.
Upgrade planning
Net2 Classic to Plus migration, v7 readiness, Paxton10 or Solo selection, wireless expansion and software lifecycle.
Support ownership
Clear boundaries among client IT, facility staff, Paxton Support and the field integrator, with escalation and recovery contacts.
Installed-price factors
Budget hardware, software or service subscription, credentials, locking hardware, power supplies and batteries, cabling/pathways, network switching, server or appliance, labor, programming, testing, training and long-term maintenance. Paxton currently publishes selected U.S. MSRP on product pages, but distributor availability and project pricing change. Verify the exact sales codes and an approved quote.
The specific $1,300–$1,600 two-door kit range may appear at resellers, but it is not a dependable installed-system price. Use Paxton’s current U.S. product catalog and authorized distribution rather than marketplace bundles of uncertain generation.
Proposal questions
- Which exact Paxton system, software edition, version and sales codes are included?
- What existing equipment, credentials and wiring will remain, and what limitations follow?
- Who owns software downloads, licenses, backups, accounts and renewal or subscription administration?
- Which door, outage, fire-interface, credential, intercom and recovery tests define acceptance?
- Who provides maintenance and on-site repair after turnover?
