IN100 locks, AH hubs and specialty openings

Aperio can extend an existing PACS without pulling communication cable to every opening, but every lock still needs a supported hub, radio plan, credential package, battery workflow and version-specific integration.

Aperio bridges wireless openings into an online PACS

In an online Aperio design, the lock or specialty device communicates over encrypted short-range 2.4 GHz radio to an AH-series hub. The hub connects to the access-control system through Wiegand, RS-485 or IP/Ethernet, depending on hub and integration. Access decisions, commands, status and audits can be real time when the complete PACS integration supports them.

ASSA ABLOY describes AES-128 protected radio using IEEE 802.15.4 and a nominal range up to approximately 25 meters in referenced technical material. Walls, metal, door position, interference and integration limits reduce that in real buildings. Survey every proposed location with the selected hub and device.

Hub models are not interchangeable

Radio planning AES-128, 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 and nominal range up to about 25 meters in referenced material. Perform an on-site survey with closed doors and normal operations; document margin, obstructions, interference and alternate placement.
Offline option Selected Aperio devices can also be used in supported offline arrangements. Offline programming, credential capacity, audit collection and update responsibility differ from online hub operation.

Integration note: hub capacity depends on the exact region, firmware, lock and PACS integration. Use the current integration guide rather than the largest number printed in a general catalog.

SARGENT IN100 Aperio wireless cylindrical lock reader and lever

SARGENT and Corbin Russwin IN100 products combine Grade 1 lock hardware, reader, monitoring and Aperio radio. SARGENT current 10X information identifies cylindrical and mortise choices, multiple credentials including mobile, door status monitoring and remote or centralized lock/unlock in under ten seconds in a designed system.

IN100 also appears in exit-device and multipoint configurations. Model and chassis matter: select the exact door hardware, reader package, privacy/local lockdown behavior, hub and PACS solution sheet. A credential-cache feature is intended to preserve authorized access during a temporary head-end communication loss, but the integration and commissioning plan must test that behavior.

Cylindrical

Current 10X bored-lock option for compatible cylindrical openings; verify function, backset, door thickness, lever, cylinder and fire listing.

Mortise

Mortise option for broader functions and architectural door preparations; coordinate deadbolt/privacy, trim and handing.

Exit device

Rim, mortise, vertical-rod or multipoint arrangements require exact trim/device compatibility and egress acceptance.

Local lockdown

Selected privacy-button functions can support local lockdown; define who can use it, how it reports and how emergency response overrides it.

Credential cache

Verify size, synchronization, offline decision behavior, expiration and recovery in the selected PACS integration.

Monitoring

Test REX, DPS, tamper, low battery, forced/held, communication and lock state at the PACS, not only at the lock.

Aperio extends beyond conventional doors

The value of Aperio is its range of opening types. HES, Securitron and Adams Rite products can bring the same access-control platform and credential deeper into cabinets, racks, glass doors, aluminum storefronts and compatible strike retrofits.

ES100 retrofit review

HES positions ES100 as a versatile Aperio wireless strike and reader for real-time retrofit access control. Public product data identifies fail-secure operation, monitored and non-monitored choices, NFC/BLE mobile support, multiCLASS SE credential options, locked-state and tamper monitoring, indoor/outdoor use and Grade 1/listing references.

  • Measure the latchbolt, deadlatch, door gap, frame material, strike depth, faceplate and existing cutout.
  • Confirm the selected 1500 or 1600 strike body and faceplate are compatible with the lockset and fire-rated assembly.
  • Decide whether door position, latch/locked state and request-to-exit monitoring are required and available in the ordered kit.
  • Document battery replacement, emergency power or mechanical access, weather exposure and how low-battery alarms reach staff.
  • Pair only through the supported Aperio workflow and record hub, channel, device address, firmware and PACS point mapping.

Firmware, congestion and security advisories

ASSA ABLOY published a June 2025 Aperio firmware recommendation addressing performance in congested RF environments for certain 3.20 online-lock and AH30/AH40 versions, noting a fix in 3.20.2 or later and identifying then-current production versions. That document is historically important, but its listed versions should not be treated as permanently current.

At every service visit, check the latest official product-security and authorized Aperio resources, identify the installed firmware, verify PACS compatibility and follow the current upgrade sequence. Do not apply a file merely because its number is higher. Pilot representative devices and preserve pairing, configuration and recovery records.

Radio, battery and maintenance ownership

  • Survey RF with the exact hub and representative device, doors closed and normal tenant or equipment activity present.
  • Record hub placement, assigned devices, RSSI/quality result, channel, obstructions, PoE or power source, UPS and network switch port.
  • Route low-battery, tamper and communication alarms to a named queue with response and escalation targets.
  • Use manufacturer-approved battery types, replacement intervals and cleaning/inspection procedures; record the service date at each opening.
  • Maintain authorized account access, programming tools, current compatibility documentation and trained personnel without posting certificates publicly.
  • Keep a current inventory of discontinued devices, compatible replacements, spare hubs and the test procedure after replacement or re-pairing.

Aperio survey, commissioning and handoff

  1. Survey the opening: record door, frame, handing, lock and exit-device function, fire label, free egress, accessibility, cylinder, contact, request-to-exit and available pathways.
  2. Inventory technology: capture the exact model, hardware generation, reader option, credential technologies, firmware, hub or gateway, controller, software release, integration and license.
  3. Engineer infrastructure: document network segment, addressing, PoE or listed power, standby runtime, voltage drop, radio coverage, time service, certificates and monitoring.
  4. Commission every workflow: test valid, denied, expired and disabled credentials; schedules; privacy; passage; lockdown; remote commands; alarms; mobile access and mechanical override.
  5. Exercise failures: disconnect the server, network, gateway or hub, lock power and utility power, then verify local decisions, free egress, event buffering, alarms and recovery.
  6. Deliver lifecycle records: provide drawings, door schedule, configuration backup, version matrix, test results, training, spares, account ownership and links to official support.
