IN120 Wi-Fi, IN220 PoE and SN210 OSDP architectures

These products can look similar at the door while behaving very differently behind it. Select by response time, wiring, power, network ownership, credential package and PACS support.

Three connected architectures solve different problems

IN120 uses facility Wi-Fi and local lock intelligence to extend access control without communication cabling to the door. IN220 uses IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet for both power and data, delivering continuous real-time communication. SN210 uses hardwired OSDP between the integrated lock and a compatible access-control panel, providing supervised reader communications and a strong fit for critical or regulated openings.

SARGENT and Corbin Russwin offer parallel IN/SN technologies on their own mechanical lock and exit-device platforms. Specify the manufacturer, chassis and series—such as SARGENT 10X cylindrical, 8200 mortise or PE80 exit hardware—not only “IN220.” The mechanical product determines function, grade, trim, cylinder, preparation and service parts.

IN120 intelligent Wi-Fi locks

Current SARGENT IN120 10X information identifies 1×1 Wi-Fi 4 with 2.4/5 GHz dual-band support, an 802.11a/b/g/n radio, HID OMNIKEY SE reader core, local decision intelligence, privacy button and Grade 1 hardware. Earlier public material references as many as 2,400 users and 10,000 events for selected configurations; verify current capacity for the exact model, firmware and PACS.

Wi-Fi locks are not continuously awake in a typical battery design. They make local credential decisions and connect at configured intervals or for supported events, balancing update speed and battery life. A hard-power option can change the operating model, but communications remain Wi-Fi. Define the maximum acceptable delay for revocation, lockdown, audit and alarms before selecting the interval.

Wireless LAN

Document SSID, bands, authentication, certificate lifecycle, DHCP/static addressing, DNS/NTP, VLAN/firewall, roaming and monitoring.

Battery behavior

Estimate from transactions, check-in interval, signal quality, environment and reader use; set replacement thresholds and staff responsibility.

Local intelligence

Test that authorized access, schedules and cached data behave as required during Wi-Fi, server or internet outages.

Hard power

Use the exact 91-option requirements, listed supply and door-transfer method; test fire-alarm and power-failure behavior.

Privacy/local lockdown

Define authorized use, indication, PACS event, central override and emergency-response procedure.

10X lifecycle

Older 10 Line cylindrical IN120 is discontinued in favor of 10X. Other mortise/exit chassis require their own status check.

IN220 Power over Ethernet locks

IN220 uses standard IEEE 802.3af PoE for power and data and provides real-time communication. Current SARGENT 10X information identifies HID OMNIKEY SE reader technology, local decision intelligence, Grade 1 hardware, privacy/lockdown features, up to 10,000 users and a 10,000-event transaction history for the referenced product.

PoE simplifies separate power infrastructure but does not make the door “just another network jack.” The cable crosses a moving door and must use an approved transfer, pathway and service loop. The switch must have sufficient per-port and total power, UPS runtime and a documented failure/reboot procedure. Coordinate network security without blocking the access-control traffic or vendor support path.

SN210 supervised OSDP integrated locks

Current SARGENT SN210 10X uses HID Signo technology and OSDP, with continuously monitored end-to-end reader communication intended to reduce tampering and man-in-the-middle exposure. Public information identifies 12–24 VDC operation, Grade 1 hardware, field-selectable fail-safe or fail-secure functions and mobile/card/keypad choices by configuration.

OSDP is a protocol, not proof that Secure Channel is enabled or correctly owned. Verify the access-control panel supports the selected SN model, address, baud rate, supervision and Secure Channel policy. Document key establishment, replacement, controller reset and service procedures. Current SARGENT pages also distinguish SN210 OSDP from SN200 Wiegand; do not order by “SN Series” alone.

SN210 OSDP

Preferred current integrated-wired path when the panel supports OSDP and project requirements call for supervised communication.

SN200 Wiegand

Separate current/retained configuration for integrations still using Wiegand. Document limitations and migration rather than conflating it with SN210.

FICAM/PIV

Selected SN210 configurations have federal approvals when used in the tested complete solution. Verify current GSA APL components and software versions.

Fail-safe/fail-secure

Choose from code, function and risk analysis; prove free egress, fire-alarm behavior, emergency response and mechanical override.

ElectroLynx pathway

Coordinate compatible hinge/power transfer, harness, connectors, conductor count, voltage drop and service access.

Energy claims

Model-specific EcoFlex and product pages publish reductions; use the exact chassis documentation and do not transfer one model’s percentage to another.

Credential and reader packages

SARGENT current product pages list BIPS and BIKPS reader packages with high- and low-frequency credentials, mobile BLE/NFC and keypad choices. Credential support can include HID Prox, iCLASS, iCLASS SE, Seos, MIFARE Classic, DESFire EV1/EV2, Apple Wallet and HID Mobile Access depending on the exact package and model.

  • Monitor communication, low battery, tamper, power, switch-port and certificate failures with a named response process.
  • Segment access-control traffic appropriately without preventing required management, time, update or vendor-support functions.

Current lifecycle and migration

SARGENT marks the older 10 Line cylindrical IN120, IN220 and SN210 models discontinued and directs clients to 10X Line alternatives. Current 10X pages provide updated cylindrical hardware and reader options. Do not infer that every 8200 mortise, 7000 multipoint or PE80 exit-device product shares the same notice; verify each exact product page.

  1. Inventory: capture model, chassis, series, option codes, firmware, reader, credential, software and door preparation.
  2. Read the notice: preserve the manufacturer discontinuance or current product page and named alternative.
  3. Confirm integration: verify the replacement in the installed PACS, controller, network and credential environment.
  4. Pilot the opening: validate mechanical prep, function, reader behavior, events, commands, network and failure recovery.
