ASSA ABLOY is a portfolio, not one lock line. Match Aperio, IP-enabled or OSDP wired architecture to the door, access-control platform, credential strategy, response-time requirement and service model.
Choose an architecture before a brand trim
ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions brings together SARGENT, Corbin Russwin, HES, Securitron, Adams Rite and other opening-hardware brands. Electronic access control products span real-time Aperio wireless locks, intelligent Wi-Fi locks, Power-over-Ethernet locks, integrated OSDP wired locks and specialty devices for strikes, cabinets, server racks and glass openings.
The same facility can use more than one architecture: PoE or OSDP at high-traffic perimeter doors, Wi-Fi where facility network coverage is strong, Aperio at suitable interior or retrofit openings, and specialty cabinet locks near protected assets. The access-control platform, credential and operating procedures must still feel like one system to the owner.

Cylindrical door
SARGENT 10X or Corbin Russwin cylindrical hardware with IN100, IN120, IN220 or SN technology as supported; verify current model, function and grade.
Mortise door
Mortise configurations support broader lock functions, deadbolt/privacy and architectural trim; survey pocket, handing, lever, cylinder and fire label.
Exit device
IN and SN exit-device configurations require the exact rim, mortise, vertical-rod or multipoint device/trim combination and egress coordination.
Electric-strike retrofit
HES ES100 combines an Aperio reader and battery-operated strike for compatible cylindrical and mortise latchbolts; exact faceplate, monitoring and listing matter.
Cabinet or locker
K/KS product families extend audit and credential control to cabinets and racks; current status must be checked because K100 was discontinued in November 2024.
Aluminum or glass opening
Adams Rite and Securitron Aperio devices can address narrow-stile, glass and specialty openings when the exact lock, reader/relay and egress arrangement is approved.
One system still requires many disciplines
Credential and mobile-access planning
Current SARGENT 10X IN and SN models use HID reader technology supporting combinations of proximity, iCLASS, iCLASS SE, Seos, MIFARE, DESFire, PIV/PIV-I and mobile credentials, with keypad options on selected models. The exact BIPS/BIKPS or other reader package determines what the ordered lock reads.
Do not promise that every credential listed for one model applies to every ASSA ABLOY brand or Aperio device. Build a matrix by part number, reader package, firmware and PACS. For mobile access, document Apple Wallet, NFC, BLE or Android workflow, enrollment authority, licensing, device replacement, privacy and an alternate path for users without a supported phone.
Lifecycle claims must be precise
ASSA ABLOY and its brands publish current products, discontinuance notices, security advisories and integration documents. The older SARGENT 10 Line IN120, IN220 and SN210 cylindrical products have current 10X alternatives; other chassis such as mortise and exit-device configurations follow their own status. HES marks K100 discontinued as of November 2024 while describing current alternatives and related cabinet products.
Record the full model and part number rather than saying “IN120” or “Aperio” alone. A family can include current and discontinued chassis at the same time. Preserve the manufacturer notice, migration option, integration compatibility and spare-parts plan in the owner record.
ASSA ABLOY survey, commissioning and handoff
- Survey the opening: record door, frame, handing, lock and exit-device function, fire label, free egress, accessibility, cylinder, contact, request-to-exit and available pathways.
- Inventory technology: capture the exact model, hardware generation, reader option, credential technologies, firmware, hub or gateway, controller, software release, integration and license.
- Engineer infrastructure: document network segment, addressing, PoE or listed power, standby runtime, voltage drop, radio coverage, time service, certificates and monitoring.
- Commission every workflow: test valid, denied, expired and disabled credentials; schedules; privacy; passage; lockdown; remote commands; alarms; mobile access and mechanical override.
- Exercise failures: disconnect the server, network, gateway or hub, lock power and utility power, then verify local decisions, free egress, event buffering, alarms and recovery.
- Deliver lifecycle records: provide drawings, door schedule, configuration backup, version matrix, test results, training, spares, account ownership and links to official support.

Update carefully: confirm the exact model, region, hardware revision, installed version, prerequisites, required intermediate releases, support entitlement, integrations, backup, maintenance window, rollback limitations and post-update tests. The wrong package or sequence can interrupt service or prevent a downgrade.
Some portals require a customer, dealer, certified-technician or active-support login. Cloud-managed products may update automatically and may not offer a public firmware file.
