Kantech controller selection should follow door count, EntraPass architecture, reader protocol, I/O, enclosure/power and expansion requirements. The controller is only one part of a code-compliant opening that includes lock, egress, monitoring and life-safety interfaces.

KT controllers and door hardware: what owners and buyers should evaluate
KT-1 and KT-2
Plan compact one- or two-door deployments by exact model, network path, power, enclosure, reader protocol, inputs/outputs and expansion. Confirm standalone versus EntraPass management requirements.
KT-4 and KT-400
Use multi-door controllers where centralized wiring and expansion fit the facility. Verify controller capacity, modules, communication, reader interfaces, memory, cabinet power and battery calculations.
ioSmart readers and credentials
Choose OSDP Secure Channel where supported and commissioned end to end. Define supported credential technologies, keypad, mobile or smart-card requirements and migration from legacy Wiegand.
