ISONAS places intelligence at or near the opening through IP reader-controller architecture. That can reduce centralized panels, but it increases the importance of network segmentation, PoE, secure field wiring, environmental protection and controlled device ownership.

IP-to-the-door hardware: what owners and buyers should evaluate
RC-04 reader-controller
Select mullion, wall or keypad form factor and exact credential model. Confirm PoE or approved DC power, local-mode capacity, environmental rating, BLE/mobile support and Pure Access compatibility.
PowerNet installed base
Document RC-03/PowerNet generation, pigtail/adapters, power, firmware, credentials and target software before replacement. Similar appearance does not prove drop-in compatibility.
IP-Bridge migration
Use an IP-Bridge only after documenting existing readers, credential formats, lock/I/O wiring, panel removal implications, enclosure power, network and life-safety behavior.

Installation, upgrade and acceptance workflow
- Survey every opening and document door construction, handing, egress, fire-rating, locking hardware, power, pathways, network and accessibility requirements.
- Inventory the exact software edition, licenses, controllers, readers, credentials, integrations and current firmware before proposing additions or migration.
- Build a model-specific bill of materials and coordinate electrical, network, life-safety and door-hardware responsibilities before installation.
- Configure roles, schedules, holidays, credential workflows, alarms, integrations, backups and administrator recovery using least-privilege practices.
- Commission authorized, denied, forced, held, request-to-exit, fire-release, network-loss and power-loss behavior at every affected opening.
- Deliver as-builts, device and version records, administrator training, warranty information and a preventive-maintenance plan.
