System selection before quoting
Aiphone IX and IXG vs GT, JO, JP and JV
The best series depends on operating workflow—not simply the number of buttons. Start with who calls, who answers, how doors release, what happens after hours and whether the system must share a network, mobile app, access control or VMS.

Series planning matrix
| Family | Typical fit | Design questions |
|---|---|---|
| IX | IXG IP | Commercial, campus, government and multi-tenant IP video intercom requiring flexible stations, software answering, mobile or telephone workflows and integrations. | PoE/VLAN design, call groups, SIP/ONVIF integration, gateways, QR/PIN entry, paging, elevator and remote management. |
| GT Series | Multi-tenant apartment, condominium and mixed-use entry with entrance, tenant and guard-station workflows. | Tenant count, building segmentation, directory method, resident stations/apps, concierge, access interface and retrofit cabling. |
| JO Series | Compact video door-answering needs where a straightforward entrance-to-master workflow is more important than enterprise IP scale. | Door count, master stations, mobile option for the exact kit, wiring distance and release device. |
| JP Series | Multi-room or multi-door video communication for residences and light commercial applications requiring additional internal stations. | Station topology, room-to-room use, door release, cameras and expansion requirements. |
| JV Series | Value-focused video door communication for smaller entry applications. | Required functions, wiring, environment, expansion and whether future mobile or enterprise integration changes the choice. |
Why IX and IXG require network engineering
Aiphone identifies IX | IXG as IP video intercom with physical and software answering stations, mobile or telephone remote unlock, visitor QR/PIN options, elevator support and SIP/ONVIF integration. Those capabilities depend on a deliberate IP plan: PoE budget, addressing, VLANs, routing, DNS, time, permitted ports, QoS where needed and documented ownership.
Commercial and government
Define reception, security desk, after-hours transfer, emergency call, paging, recording, access-control and failover workflows. Confirm required TAA-compliant models when procurement rules apply.
Multi-tenant
Define directory ownership, move-in/move-out administration, tenant privacy, mobile enrollment, guard response, delivery access and elevator behavior before selecting IXG or GT.
Acceptance must reflect the facility
- Place representative calls from every entrance and emergency station to each intended answering path.
- Verify intelligible two-way audio and useful video under day, night, noise and accessibility conditions.
- Exercise door release, denied release, held/forced door behavior and access/VMS event correlation where configured.
- Test WAN, LAN, PoE, DNS, app and workstation interruptions without assuming an online icon proves operation.
- Provide labeled drawings, IP records, configuration backup, administrator training and support escalation.
