ASSA ABLOY Aperio Programming Application, Hubs and Wireless Locks Guide

Aperio extends an electronic access-control system to wireless locking devices through model-specific communication hubs. The access-control platform normally makes the access decision, while the Aperio Programming Application and USB radio tool are used by trained installers to pair, configure and maintain devices.

We install, configure, service, maintain and support ASSA ABLOY Aperio products and systems. Work can include survey, engineering, procurement, field installation, software setup, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, administrator training and lifecycle planning.

Aperio commissioning and platform integration: decisions before procurement

Programming Application

Use the current manufacturer-provided installer software and radio tool for unit configuration, pairing/unpairing, firmware, wireless status, addresses and protected installation records.

Communication hubs

Choose Wiegand, RS-485 or IP/Ethernet hub architecture by the host EAC’s approved integration, door count, topology, distance, resilience and current regional product support.

Wireless locks and devices

Select supported escutcheon, mortise/cylindrical lock, electric strike, reader or specialty device by opening, credential, environment, life-safety and battery/service requirements.

Scope the complete installed system

Planning area What to verify
Host EAC integration Approved access-control platform/version, interface, panel capacity, real-time events, commands, offline behavior, licensing and support ownership.
Radio design Hub model/capacity, device count, distance, construction/interference, placement, link quality, redundant paths where supported and survey results.
Credential security Supported RFID/mobile technology, encryption, format, issuance, enrollment, revocation, fallback and migration from legacy cards.
Service records Lock/hub IDs, door mapping, firmware, battery state, pairing database, encryption ownership, configuration backup and maintenance history.

Installation, upgrade and acceptance workflow

  1. Survey each opening, door and frame construction, existing lock/closer, egress, fire interface, accessibility, power, pathways and network before selecting hardware.
  2. Inventory the exact software, version, license or tenant owner, panels, hubs, locks, readers, credentials, firmware, integrations and administrator-recovery path.
  3. Confirm current manufacturer compatibility and documentation; prepare a model-specific bill of materials, wiring plan and responsibility matrix.
  4. Install and configure power, network, controllers or hubs, locks, readers, sensors, schedules, holidays, roles, credentials, alerts and approved integrations.
  5. Test authorized, denied, held, forced, request-to-exit, fire-release, communication-loss, power-loss and recovery behavior at every affected opening.
  6. Deliver as-builts, device/version records, account and license ownership, acceptance results, administrator training and a preventive-maintenance plan.

Common buyer and administrator questions

What is the Aperio Programming Application?

It is the installer tool used to configure and pair Aperio devices and hubs, manage protected installation data and perform supported firmware/configuration work.

Does Aperio replace the access-control software?

Aperio normally extends a compatible electronic access-control system. The host EAC typically manages users and makes access decisions.

How many locks connect to a hub?

Capacity depends on the exact hub generation, interface, market and host integration. Verify the current regional datasheet rather than relying on an old diagram.

Can existing credentials be reused?

Often possible, but only after confirming the precise credential technology, encoding/security, reader support and host EAC configuration.

Official manufacturer resources

Use manufacturer-controlled pages for current manuals, software, firmware, compatibility and release information. We link to those portals and do not host firmware locally.
