Installation, service, maintenance and support
Camden Controls Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Strike Selection and Support Guide
Camden publishes model-specific manuals, wiring diagrams, specification sheets and selection tools for locking, control, activation and access products. Effective service begins with the exact model and opening sequence; a generic wire-color assumption can damage hardware or defeat required egress behavior.
We install, configure, service, maintain and support Camden Controls products and systems. Work can include survey, engineering, procurement, field installation, software setup, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, administrator training and lifecycle planning.

Door-hardware documentation and troubleshooting: decisions before procurement
Electric strike selection
Match cylindrical, mortise, rim or narrow-stile lockset; latch dimensions and preload; frame material; fire rating; fail-safe/fail-secure behavior; monitoring and outdoor exposure.
Relays, timers and power
Document every input/output, contact rating, delay, sequence, power load, inrush, battery and fire-alarm interface before replacing a CX relay or supply.
Switches and request-to-exit
Choose active, touchless, push-plate, key, pull, wireless or REX devices by accessibility, environment, mounting, annunciation and the intended access/door-operator workflow.
Scope the complete installed system
| Planning area | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Identify | Full model/suffix, serial or date code, manual revision, supply voltage, wiring colors/terminals, accessories and controlled opening. |
| Mechanical condition | Door alignment, latch engagement, preload, closer/operator, hinges, frame cut, fasteners and weather exposure. |
| Electrical tests | Voltage at rest/under load, current/inrush, polarity, relay logic, suppression, conductor condition, grounding and battery behavior. |
| Operational proof | Access granted/denied, free egress, REX, fire release, power loss, door operator timing, annunciation and held/forced state. |
Installation, upgrade and acceptance workflow
- Survey the opening, handing, frame and door material, lockset, latch geometry, preload, closer, operator, egress, fire rating, accessibility and environmental exposure.
- Select the exact strike, maglock, switch, relay, sensor, power supply and mounting accessory using current manufacturer selection tools and documents.
- Produce a point-to-point sequence showing access-control, operator, fire-alarm, REX, door-position, annunciation and emergency-release behavior.
- Install hardware without weakening listed assemblies; align the door, route protected wiring, label conductors and configure timing and logic.
- Test normal access, denied access, free egress, fire release, power loss, operator sequencing, door-held conditions and every accessible-use workflow.
- Document models, settings, wiring, approvals used, test results, spare components and inspection/maintenance intervals.
Common buyer and administrator questions
Where are Camden wiring diagrams?
Use Camden’s official installation-manual and support pages. Select the exact model and revision instead of relying on an image copied from another site.
Which electric strike fits my door?
The answer depends on lockset, latch dimensions, frame, preload, rating, handing, monitoring and environment. Camden provides a strike selection tool, but a field survey remains essential.
Why does a strike buzz but not release?
Possible causes include door preload, low voltage under load, incorrect voltage/polarity, inadequate power, wiring loss, alignment or a mismatched strike. Test mechanically and electrically.
Can you repair Camden systems?
Yes. We install, troubleshoot and replace supported Camden strikes, locks, controls, switches, REX, power and restroom/emergency equipment.
Official manufacturer resources
Use manufacturer-controlled pages for current manuals, software, firmware, compatibility and release information. We link to those portals and do not host firmware locally.
