Identity, software and integration planning

Kisi with Okta, Entra ID, SCIM, SSO and APIs

Design the employee and tenant lifecycle before connecting systems. Authentication, provisioning, access assignment, unlock behavior and event attribution are separate controls that need separate tests.

Choose the correct integration layer

SAML single sign-on

SSO controls how users authenticate. Kisi currently documents SAML integrations including Okta and Microsoft Entra ID. Assignment at the identity provider and Kisi organization membership must both be tested.

SCIM provisioning

SCIM automates user and group lifecycle from supported identity providers. Define the authoritative directory, mappings, emails, deactivation behavior and exception accounts before enabling it.

Directory import

A directory import can bring selected users or groups into Kisi without being the same as SSO or continuous SCIM lifecycle automation. Choose it deliberately.

Kisi API and webhooks

Kisi’s JSON API supports organization, user, door, access and unlock workflows. Current documentation states a general authenticated rate limit of five requests per second per user; applications must handle 429 responses and retries safely.

Marketplace applications

Prebuilt integrations address video, wireless locks, coworking, fitness, workplace and other workflows. Verify current listing, license, data exchange and support owner before procurement.

Mobile SDK

For approved custom native iOS or Android applications, Kisi documents an SDK route. It requires a fuller software, identity, security and app-release lifecycle than using the native Kisi app.

Okta and Microsoft Entra implementation sequence

  1. Inventory owners, administrators, operators, users, service accounts, groups, places and access boundaries.
  2. Choose SSO, SCIM and/or directory import based on the required lifecycle. Do not use the terms interchangeably.
  3. Map source groups to Kisi users and groups using least privilege and a documented naming standard.
  4. Preserve and test an approved recovery account before enforcing SSO.
  5. Pilot new-hire, transfer, termination, rehire and leave-of-absence cases with non-critical users.
  6. Test sync failure, duplicate identity, changed email, lost phone, token rotation and administrator recovery.

Video, wireless-lock and tenant integrations

Integration Current documented purpose Acceptance questions
Cisco Meraki MV Associate supported Meraki camera video with Kisi door events for visual investigation. Which doors map to which cameras? Are permissions, retention, timing and event retrieval correct?
Schlage NDE and LE Kisi documents Allegion ENGAGE integration through a gateway and Kisi Controller, with up to ten supported wireless locks per Controller in the current guide. Exact models, gateway, firmware, RS-485 topology, credential modes, battery/service process and offline behavior.
Coworking and flex-space platforms Kisi lists integrations such as OfficeRnD, Nexudus, Cobot, Optix, Archie and other current marketplace partners. What event creates, changes and removes access? Which system is authoritative? How are guests, bookings and failed syncs handled?
Custom API User provisioning, access links, cloud unlocks and other workflows can be built with documented APIs and webhooks. Scope, secrets, attribution, retries, rate limits, monitoring, audit, data retention and rollback.

Operational acceptance evidence

Acceptance should prove the intended workflow under realistic conditions, not merely show that two systems say “connected.”

  • Create, change and deactivate representative users from the authoritative identity source.
  • Verify correct place, group, schedule and door access after each lifecycle event.
  • Retrieve a door event with associated Meraki video where configured.
  • Exercise a Schlage wireless opening, loss of communication, recovery and battery/service alert path.
  • Rotate a non-production API or SCIM credential and verify monitoring, rollback and audit evidence.

Coordinate software and field commissioning

360 Technology Group can install and service the physical Kisi system while coordinating approved identity, video, tenant and custom integrations with the client’s IT and software owners.
